Association football is a popular sport, both in terms of participants and spectators, in Tokyo. Tokyo is home to many football clubs.

National Olympic Stadium was the home venue of the Japan national football team and has traditionally hosted the Emperor's Cup.

The Tokyo Soccer Club was first winner of Emperor's Cup and this club the oldest Japanese football club[[1]
