France Nature Environnement is the French federation of associations for the protection of nature and the environment.[1] Created in 1968 as the Fédération française des sociétés de protection de la nature (French Federation of Societies for the Protection of Nature), it was recognised as being d'utilité publique (having public benefits) in 1976. It speaks on behalf of a movement of 3000 associations, grouped into 80 member organisations in France and its overseas territories. The logo of the Federation is the hedgehog, and its motto is Partout où la nature a besoin de nous ("Everywhere nature needs us").
