Fredd Atkins
Fredd Atkins, born June 19, 1952,[1] is the first African American mayor of Sarasota, Florida. He has served as a city commissioner of Sarasota for 18 years and has run for Sarasota County Commissioner.[2][3]

Atkins grew up in the community of Newtown in Sarasota, Florida.[2]
