The Fuzhou–Xiamen high-speed railway will run between Fuzhou and Zhangzhou in China.

History[]

In 2015, it was announced that a second high-speed railway link between Fuzhou and Xiamen would be constructed, as the existing Fuzhou–Xiamen railway was at capacity. At this time, the project was expected to be completed by 2019.[2]

Construction began in 2017, at which time the opening had been pushed back to 2022.[3]

Route[]

This line runs parallel to the existing Fuzhou–Xiamen railway which opened in 2010. Trains will run at 350 km/h, faster than the 250 km/h design speed of the existing railway. The expected journey time between Fuzhou and Xiamen is one hour.[2]

The project includes a new depot which is being constructed north of Xiamen North railway station.[4]
