G. Satyamurthy (2 May 1954 – 14 December 2015) was an Indian writer, screenwriter and film dialogue writer who predominantly worked in Telugu cinema.[1] He has been as a writer for over 90 films.[2] He is the father of composer Devi Sri Prasad and singer Sagar.[3]

Early life and death[]

Satyamurthy was born on 2 May 1954 in Vedurupaka of Rayavaram mandal, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh.[2] He completed his degree in Ramachandrapuram. Later he studied B. Ed at Andhra National College of Education in Machilipatnam and started his teaching career.[4] He died on 14 December 2015 due to Myocardial infarction.[5][6]

Literary writing[]

Satyamurthy's passion for literature led him to start essay writings. Many novels and story collections have emerged from his pen, which began its literary journey with the debut novel Chaitanyam. His works, Pavitrulu, Punarankitam, Edaloyala Nidurinche, Digambara Ambaram and Adhara Garalam have especially entertained the literary lovers. He continued his writing process by plotting the conflict in human relationships. Emotion is most evident in Satyamurthy's writings. Satyamurthy's reputation as a story and novelist turned him towards the film industry.[7]

Film career[]

Satyamurthy started his film career as a story writer with the film Devatha (1982), directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and produced by D. Ramanaidu. With the success of this film, he got wide recognition. Bava Maradallu, Kirai Kotigadu, Abhilasha, Challenge, Jwala, Bhaledonga, Matrudevobhava, Kanchana Sita, Chanti, Pedarayudu, Srinivasa Kalyanam, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, Bangaru Bullodu, Pelli, Nyayam Kosam, Nyayam Kosam, Khaidi No. 786, Amma Donga were his successful films. Satyamurthy played a key role in Chiranjeevi's film career.[8] He also directed two films Dadar Express and Chaitanya.
