Gabriel Juan Escarrer Jaume (born January 1971)[2] is a Spanish billionaire businessman, heir to Meliá Hotels International, where he is the CEO and vice-chairman.[3]

Early life[]

He is the son of the founder and chairman, Gabriel Escarrer Juliá.[4]

Escarrer has a BS degree in economics from the renowned Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he specialized in finance and business management.[5] He has an MBA from ESADE.[6]

Career[]

Escarrer worked in New York City in finance with Salomon Smith Barney for three years,[7] before joining Meliá Hotels.[4] Escarrer and his family own almost 56% of Meliá Hotels.[1]

Personal life[]

Escarrer is married, with four children, and lives in Palma de Majorca, Spain.[1]
