Gabriele Casella (born 23 June 1994) is an Italian kickboxer, and the current WAKO World Light Heavyweight champion.[3] He is the former WMO World Light Heavyweight champion, and two time Italian national champion.

Kickboxing and muay thai career[]

Early career[]

During Grande Soirée de la Boxe he fought Wendy Annonay, and won the fight by a unanimous decision.[4]

He fought Peemai Jitmuangnon in September 2015, during The Circle. He won the fight by a unanimous decision.[5] He fought another Thai athlete, Sor Klinmee, 10 months later, and won by a first round KO.[6]

WAKO Pro Light heavyweight champion[]

Casella fought Grégory Grossi for the WAKO World K-1 Light Heavyweight title during the Monte-Carlo Fighting Masters. He won the five round affair by a unanimous decision.[7]

Casella fought for the WMO World Light Heavyweight title in 2017, with his opponent being Lawrence Smithen.[8] Gabriele won the fight by a unanimous decision.[9]

He fought outside of Europe for the first time in 2017, during Kunlun Fight 62, when he fought Artur Kyshenko.[10] Casella lost the fight by a unanimous decision.[11]

Casella was scheduled to face Rémy Vectol at Thai Fight Rome on April 21, 2018. He won the fight by a first-round technical knockout.[12]

Casella was afterwards scheduled to make his Bellator Kickboxing debut against Alexandru Negrea at Bellator Rome on July 14, 2018. He won the fight by unanimous decision.[13] Casella made his second appearance under the Bellator banner against Dani Taore at Bellator Kickboxing 11 on December 1, 2018.[14]

Casella was scheduled to face the former WKN Cruiserweight champion Corentin Jallon at Fighting Spirit 7 on April 27, 2019. He won the fight by unanimous decision.[15]

Boxing career[]

Casella took part in the 2019 Italian national boxing championship, by competing in the heavyweight division. He beat Alessandro Gaglianese by referee stoppage in the first round, Gianluca Rosciglione by points in the quarterfinals and Domenico Norvetta by referee stoppage in the semifinals. These three victories earned him the right to face Davide Brito in the tournament finals, who Casella won the fight by points.[16]

Casella fought with the Italian national boxing team at the Castellon de la Plan. He was scheduled to face Enmanuel Reyes of the Spanish team on the fifth day of the competition, on October 10, 2020. Reyes won the fight by unanimous decision.[17]
