Gantchhora (Bengali: গাঁটছড়া) is an Indian Bengali drama television series which premiered on 20 December 2021[2] on Star Jalsha. It is also available on the digital platform Disney+ Hotstar. The series is produced by Snigdha Basu and Sunny Ghosh Ray under the banner of Acropolis Entertainment.[3] It features an ensemble cast of Gourab Chatterjee, Solanki Roy, Anindya Chatterjee, Riaz Laskar, Sreema Bhattacharjee and Anushka Goswami in lead roles.[4][5]

Plot[]

The show opens up on the occasion of Bengal's famous Jagatdhatri Puja. The famous diamond traders, the Singha Roys, celebrate Jagatdhatri Puja every year. This year, the responsibility of the whole decoration of the Puja has been given to Khori Bhattacharya, the second daughter of the Bhattacharyas. They are three sisters, with their parents. Her mother wishes that someday her daughters would get married to a wealthy family. Therefore, Khori's mother plans to head to the Singha Roy mansion with her daughters, in excuse of Khori's artistic talent.[5]

The Singha Roys on the other hand are a joint family. The trio brothers in the family are the ones, who are greatly loved by their grandparents. Kunal is the youngest son of the Singha Roys. He is an artist and very good at art. Rahul is the middle son. He is very casual in his life and so-called "Romeo" type. The eldest son of the Singha Roys is Riddhiman Singha Roy. He is the most loved among the trio. Being the elder, he has taken up the responsibility of his family business. Riddhi marries Khori but puts her in a small room raising the concern of domestic violence.[5]

TRP Ratings[]

Gantchhora began with an excellent TRP rating of 8.9 and acquired fourth position on debut. Soon it became no.1 show in week 4 of 2022 with a TRP of 9.8.[11]
