Tom Davies, who goes by the online alias GeoWizard, is a YouTuber from Aldridge, England.

Career[]

Before beginning his career as a YouTuber, Davies held a number of jobs, including as a fishmonger, driver, and bartender.[2]

Davies is known for his skill at GeoGuessr,[3][4] a browser game in which one is given a pseudo-randomised Google Street View location and must guess where it is.

He is also known for his "straight line missions"—a series of attempts to hike across countries in as close to a straight line as possible. In 2019, Davies' first attempt occurred in Wales, but was called off mid-journey for various reasons.[5][6][7][8] In 2020, during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, he attempted to cross Wales again, this time with his friend Greg, but the effort was called off for health reasons. Later in 2020, Davies successfully crossed Norway.[9] In early 2021, Davies and Greg attempted to cross Scotland, albeit unsuccessfully due to being caught by Scottish police for breaking COVID-19 guidelines.[10]

Davies registered his current YouTube channel, "GeoWizard", on 15 May 2015. As of June 2021, Davies has amassed over 900,000 subscribers and over 100 million views across all his public videos.[11] Outside of YouTube, he streams GeoGuessr-related content to Twitch, and has gained over 45,000 followers on the site.[12] In addition, Davies writes music for his YouTube videos, with his most recent album, 16-Bit Adventure, featuring prominently in his "Mission Across Wales" and "Mission Across Norway" videos.[13][14][15]
