George Boyne

George Boyne is principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Aberdeen.[1] He joined the university on 1 August, 2018[2] and was officially installed in his role on 16 January, 2019.[3]
Originally from Aberdeen, Boyne attended King Street Primary School and Aberdeen Grammar School, and is a double graduate of the University of Aberdeen.
He has spent the majority of his academic career in Wales and prior to joining the University of Aberdeen, Boyne was pro vice-chancellor of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and a professor of public sector management at Cardiff University. He was also a member of the university executive board and was previously dean of Cardiff University's business school.
Research[]
During his career, Boyne has published eight books and over 140 articles in academic journals.[4] His main research interest is the explanation and evaluation of organisational performance in the public sector.
