Major-General Gerald Mark Strickland, DSO MBE is a senior British Army officer.

Military career[]

Strickland was commissioned into 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles on 3 September 1989.[1] He undertook a tour in Afghanistan for which he was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order in July 2008[2] and returned to Afghanistan as commanding officer of the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles in Helmand Province in 2010.[3] He went on to become commander of 4th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters North East in May 2015,[4] Director of Joint Commitments (Overseas Operations) at the Ministry of Defence in January 2017[5] and Deputy Commanding General-Support, III Corps and Fort Hood in May 2019.[6] After that he became General Officer Commanding, 6th (United Kingdom) Division in September 2021.[7]

He was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2006 New Year Honours.[8]
