Giorgio Perondini
Giorgio Perondini (born 3 October 1937) is an Italian athlete swimmer who competed in the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics in 50m, 100m and 200m Freestyle and Backstroke.[1]
Giorgio learnt to swim in the canals of Venice, where he and his brother rose to National championship levels in teenage categories.
Giorgio, his brother and Mother moved to Turin after the war, when Giorgio was offered a place in the FIAT swimming team and a place of work as a factory labourer.
Giorgio trained and competed with the FIAT team, undertook his working duties, as well as studying for a degree by night.
Giorgio graduated, competed in the olympics, and rose through the management ladder within Fiat, becoming a director (dirigente) of the company.
To this day (July 2021) he holds Italian records for Freestyle and Backstroke in various age categories at Masters level.
He recently (July 2021) won the Italian championships in both those disciplines.
He lives with his wife Jane in the outskirts of Turin (Torino) Italy.
