Giorgos Lavaridis

Giorgos Lavaridis (Greek: Γιώργος Λαβαρίδης; born in 1947) is a Greek footballer.[1] Lavaridis was born in Istanbul, Turkey.

Club career[]

Lavaridis started playing football from a very young age and signed with Galatasaray S.K. when he was 14 in 1961. He was given the nickname "Baby" by the Greeks in Istanbul who noticed him while he was playing in Istanbul.

In 1964, Lavaridis moved to Greece and joined AEK Athens FC as a youth team member.[2] He was promoted to the first team in 1968. Whilst in AEK he won two Championships in 1968 and 1971, a Cup in 1966 and a "Greek Super Cup" in 1971.[3]

Personal life[]

Lavaridis was rumored to be ordained a Greek Orthodox priest,[4] but thiswas disputed.[5]
