Gloomhaven is a role-playing video game adaptation of the tabletop game by the same name. Following two years of early access, it was released on October 20, 2021.

Gameplay[]

As an adaptation of the tabletop game Gloomhaven, the video game follows the same rules. Players assume the role of a band of mercenaries fulfilling quests about the vicinity of the titular city, Gloomhaven. Each player controls a character with a unique class of abilities and attacks, selected through a card deck specific to the class. Players take turns engaging and defeating enemies without being defeated themselves. Players can play solo or through an online cooperative mode.[1]

Development[]

Gloomhaven is the first release by developers Flaming Fowl Studios. Its publisher, Asmodee Digital, previously supported video game adaptations of other tabletop games. Gloomhaven received an early access release in July 2019 for Windows. Subsequent updates included an online cooperative mode in 2019 and additional missions in 2021. Its full release, on October 20, 2021, included a digital version of the Gloomhaven tabletop game.[1]

Reception[]

The game was released to mostly positive reviews, praising the game's adaptation of the original.[2][3]
