Gloucestershire Police Authority

Gloucestershire Police Authority was the governing body of the Gloucestershire Police force in the English county of Gloucestershire encompassing Gloucester and Cheltenham.

Police Authorities ceased to exist as of 22 November 2012. Police and Crime Commissioners are now responsible for setting the strategic direction of local policing.

Police Authorities were usually a board of members consisting of local councillors and independent members appointed directly to serve in that role. At least one member was usually a Magistrate.
