Gorkhapatra (Nepali: गोरखापत्र) is the oldest national daily newspaper of Nepal.[1] It is run by Gorkhapatra Sansthan.[2] It is the sixth oldest newspaper in South Asia.[3] It was launched as a weekly in May 1901 and became a daily newspaper in 1961.[4] The Rising Nepal is sister newspaper of Gorkhapatra in English language.

It was founded by Dev Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana on May 6, 1901. It was edited by Pandit Naradev Pandey and was published weekly supervised of Lt Col Dilli Samsher Thapa.[5]
