Half Dead and Dynamite is the second LP released by the Minnesota indie rock band Lifter Puller. As with its self-titled predecessor, songs are balanced between personal and strictly narrative. Some of the songs ("To Live and Die in LBI" and "I Like the Lights" for instance) delve into the that the band's lyrics intermittently explore. Meanwhile, songs like "Nassau Coliseum" seem to operate in a more, if not personal, more independently narrative vein, as with "Rental" from the first LP. At 9 minutes shorter than the s/t LP, "Half Dead..." is also a more concise statement. Musically, the template doesn't vary significantly from its predecessor, Finn still sings with more deliberate melody and most of the band's initial dynamics and songwriting approach (noirish indie-pop) are still in place.
