Hank Parker's Outdoor Magazine is an American half-hour outdoor fishing television series hosted by former professional tournament angler Hank Parker. The show made its debut in syndication on January 5, 1985. The show was created in 1984 by Hank Parker and Michael Runnels. The show was produced first by Parker/Runnels Productions from 1985 to 1998, and then, by Hank Parker Productions from 1998–present.

Format[]

During each half-hour segment, Hank Parker gives you the scoop on catching a fish, as well as inviting guests to share some of the most outdoor fishing adventures. Guests included Frank O. Hill, Larry Bird, Dale Earnhardt, Bryan White, the Parker kids, and others. Each episode also featured a segment called "Kids Korner", and was sponsored by Mercury Outboards. This segment featured the Kids Korner kids giving their fishing tips and techniques. The theme music was composed by William A. Landers, who is known for using the "do, do, do, do, do, do" part. Another segment of the show called "Tip of the Week", where Hank tells the viewer on giving fishing tips, and "Tricks of the Trade", where Hank gives the scoop on fishing tricks.

Opening and closing sequence[]

The original opening sequence, which was used from the show's debut until 1995, and it shows Hank Parker getting up early in the morning to go fishing, which transforms into a title card, and it opens up to reveal a still drawing of Hank himself, with his signature on it. But starting in season 2 (1986-1987), it flips over to see the headline reading "PARKER'S CLASSIC VICTORY '79 B.A.S.S. Masters Classic" is shown, and in later seasons, the banner reads "'89 CHAMPION", and it flips over to see the headline reading "1983 Special Issue B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year "SUPER PRO" Hank Parker", and then, it flips over to see the headline reading "PARKER COMPLETES GRAND SLAM Winner, SUPER B.A.S.S. IV April, 1985", all in Korinna font, the same font used for the clues on Jeopardy!, followed by the show's logo again. The closing credits consisted of Hank returning home from his fishing trip, and it closes like a book to reveal the Parker/Runnels Productions logo, with the title card next to it.

Starting in season 11 (1995-1996), this opening was replaced by video footage of different families fishing, as well as scenes of Hank himself, and an image of Parker winning the 1989 Bassmaster Classic is shown. At the end, we see a silhouette of Hank himself fishing, and then, the picture freezes, as the show's logo appeared onscreen. The closing version is the same as the opening.
