Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican (born 18 October 1952) is a Malaysian businessman and corporate figure. He is the former President and Chief Executive of Petronas.[1] He was previously a Member of the Council of Eminent Persons[2] and the president of Khazanah Nasional Berhad.[3]

Early life and education[]

Hassan was born in Sungai Petani, Kedah on 18 October 1952.[4][5] He studied in Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) in 1971.[6]

Career[]

Hassan Marican was a partner of an accounting firm named Hanafiah Raslan & Mohamed from 1981 to 1989.[7][8]

Hassan was the CEO of Petronas Nasional Berhad from 1989 till 10 February 2010.[1] He was appointed by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a Member of the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) along with Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Daim Zainuddin, Robert Kuok and Jomo Kwame Sundaram in 2018.[9] He was appointed a Director of Khazanah Nasional Berhad on July the same year.[10] Hassan is also the Senior Advisor of Temasik International Advisors,[11] the Chairman of Sembcorp Marine, and the Director of the Regional Economic Development Authority of Sarawak.[12]
