Helmut Hödl

Helmut Hödl (born 16 November 1969, in Oberwart) is an Austrian clarinetist and composer.

Hödl first played clarinet at age 6.[1] He studied clarinet at the music academies of Vienna and Graz.[2] He has appeared with the of Stuttgart, the Woodwind Ensemble during Salzburg Mozart week, , Klangforum Wien, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.[2] He has been the principal clarinetist of the Vienna Volksoper since 1993, and has taught at the in Eisenstadt since 1998.[2] He was the founder of the (VCC) with Rupert Fankhauser, Hubert Salmhofer, Wolfgang Kornberger.[2] He has written many compositions for chamber groups and orchestras, especially for the VCC. He has also received commissions for the , , the and the .[3]
