A hemihydrate, or semihydrate, is a hydrate whose solid contains one molecule of water of crystallization per two molecules, or per two unit cells. An example of this is ${\displaystyle {\ce {CaSO4*1/2H2O}}}$ which is the hemihydrate of ${\displaystyle {\ce {CaSO4}}}$.
