The Hero Honda CBZ was a motorcycle launched in early 1999 by Hero Honda, with an original Honda 156.8 cc engine. The styling of the bike was a scaled version of the Honda CB series.

The CBZ has an over-square engine with a Keihin slide type carburetor with accelerator pump. It has a larger spring operated nozzle to provide a richer fuel air mixture into the engine for better acceleration. An air injection to new emission standards, including Euro1.

CBZ[]

The bike was launched as Hero Honda CBZ in India. It was the first 156.6 cc engine bike of India[citation needed] The engine was based on Honda CRF 150 F,and it came equipped with TPFC.The term TPFC stood for Transient Power Fuel Control system. This system uses a constant-choke carburetor. The most prominent feature of this type of carburetor is that it increases the engine speed without any jerks. In this system, the throttle valve creates the vacuum which operates a diaphram pump. It eventually controls the air-fuel ratio through a tapered jet. Hero Honda CBZ is first and last bike to get TPFC Technology which gives a reasonable amount of boost by sending additional fuel into the engine when the throttle is opened. The model went unchanged more or less for five years. In 2004, a new variant called CBZ* (star) was launched with revised graphics and addition of self start ,but it does not inspire CBZ enthusiastic which bike due to over enthusiastic use of graphics and significantly higher price compared to its competitors .So,The bike was discontinued after September 2005. The CBZ was followed after a gap of two years by the CBZ-Xtreme, which shared no parts with the CBZ, and had a 149 cc engine and five-speed gearbox.

The term TPFC stands for Transient Power Fuel Control system. This system uses a constant-choke carburetor. The most prominent feature of this type of carburetor is that it increases the engine speed without any jerks. In this system, the throttle valve creates the vacuum which opens a slide. It eventually controls the air-fuel ratio through a tapered jet. Most bikes use ‘Constant Velocity’ carburetor. This type of carburetor maintains constant velocity at the Venturi. This produces an optimum air-fuel ratio. However, this type of carburetor has a slight lag/delay when the rider opens the throttle suddenly.

How TPFC Works[]

This is where Transient Power Fuel Control system comes into play. Its nozzle mechanism sprays petrol when the rider opens the throttle suddenly. Thereby, it instantly revs the engine. This increases the throttle response and the engine feels livelier. However, this increases the emission levels. Hence, TPFC was consequently discontinued. Later, the fuel injection technology replaced the carburetor.

If the rider opens the throttle without needing it; activates the Transient Power Fuel Control system. And thus, it will accidentally waste some fuel. Typically in TPFC, an accelerator pump injects more fuel to compensate for the lean air-fuel mixture which it generates when the rider applies sudden throttle. The pilot circuit in combination with the needle and needle jet normally has enough rich setting. So, it does not need extra enriching from the accelerator pump.

As After the Success of CBZ, Hero Honda Launched Ambition Motorcycle with same engine architecture but with a reduced bore diameter but retained the same stroke as the CBZ this gave the Ambition a swept volume of 133cc . The engine displacement was reduced in order to provide a more fuel efficient alternative to the CBZ

AMI(Advanced Micro Processor Ignition System) in Ambition[]

The Ambition was the first motor cycle from Hero Honda Featuring Advanced Micro Processor Ignition System (AMI). With AMI, the system is linked electronically to the throttle control whereby the spark advancement is controlled electronically. Thus, it is different to the mechanical control of spark in case of the conventional design. Hence, this system helps in delivering better pickup, power. And, it also improves fuel efficiency.

Hero Honda Ambition is a 135cc bike launched in India by Hero Honda. The Bike was Unveiled in 2002. Hero Honda ambition is the motorcycle which comes under both Fuel economy and power and Hero Honda Marketed it in the tagline of "PowerFuel". It marketed also in the tagline of "Regel Crest"(Round Shape Headlamp Design).Hero Honda Ambition 135 Coupled with 5 speed constant mesh transmission. This 133cc motor generated 11.2ps of max power and 10.5Nm of peak torque. Hero Honda Ambition was that it came with a 5-speed gearbox. Making the bike nimble in the city for commuting and allowed it to cruise out on the highway at Decent speeds. Hero Honda Stands out the ambition bike as an commuter bike with CBZ Platform engine as an all rounder category.

Hero Honda Launched Ambition 135cc is to fill the Gap between 100cc to 150cc.Instead of launching any product from 125cc,Hero Honda launched something Powerful yet Fuel efficient. Because of the 133cc engine, it was more powerful than the 125 cc motorcycles and was more efficient than the 150 cc bikes. The motorcycle grabbed millions attention but manufacturer failed to sell the expected number of units. So, The Company updated a facelift model in 2004 by changing conventional round headlamp design to the CBZ Fairing, which also grabbed Youngster attention. Even though it failed to sell the expected number of units. So the Bike was eventually discontinued in 2005.After this failure Hero Honda Launches the CBZ Star Version in 2005 as mentioned earlier and updated Ambition as an all new Hero Honda Achiever with just shared the part of side and tail panels set with same CBZ Xtreme Engine platform.

CBZ Xtreme was the 150 cc successor of the Hero Honda CBZ. The bike was introduced in 2006.[1] Except for a mild resemblance to the older CBZ's headlamp, the new model had little else in common.

The turn indicators have been integrated into the headlamp housing and the tail lamp cluster features a segmented stop and brake light section with the turn indicators built into a single unit that wraps around the brake light's bottom side. Also LEDs have been used replacing the conventional bulbs. The split hand grips for the pillion rider serves in providing a different look.

The CBZ Xtreme has an asymmetric instrument panel with carbon matte finish. There are analogue gauges, including a tachometer, speedometer and fuel gauge, in addition to high beam, turn and neutral indicators.

It was priced higher than the company's Achiever model. Nevertheless, this bike did not have a mono-shock suspension.

The bike had a major visual makeover in late 2008 and is the more expensive 150 cc offering from Hero Honda compared to the Hunk, which has the same power train.
