Horizons has received positive reviews from professional music critics.
In a review written for Sonic Perspectives, Josh Mencke states, "Horizons is truly a step forward for Starset, and arguably a demonstration of them at their best. They've taken their past releases and distilled them all into an optimised collection of tracks, whilst introducing some new ideas to continue the concept narrative. Horizons is a beautifully arranged combination of a number of different musical styles, and despite being a continuation of the Starset narrative, it’s easily accessible and relatable so that any listener, fan or not, can join in and appreciate this band thoroughly."[4]
