"Horse" on YouTube

"Horse" is a single by Swedish DJ Salvatore Ganacci. American record label Owsla released the single along with a music video on 17 April 2019. The music video was nominated for and won a Grammis for Music Video of the Year in 2020.

Music video[]

A music video for "Horse" was released on 19 April 2019. The video was directed by Vedran Rupic. Ganacci described the video as a message of love.[2] At the beginning of the video you can see several people mistreating animals. A sheep gets the lid of the boot slammed on its head, a panda gets a car bumped against its head, a horse gets a door slammed against its head and a lion gets hit in the face. The video changes to Salvatore sitting all in white in the middle of an empty hall with his eyes closed. Salvatore opens his eyes with a clap of thunder, a hawk screams, to which Salvatore replies "What?" in shock. Salvatore drives a large shoe to the people, to whom he subsequently does the same thing that they each did to the animals. Finally, Salvatore is seen driving away with the animals in his shoe. [3]

Reception[]

DJ Mag praised "Horse" for its high energy and the outlandish nature of the music video.[4] EDMSauce also enjoyed the weird nature, adding a moral to the video relating to animal cruelty.[5] Chris Stack of Dancing Astronaut also enjoyed the single, writing that listeners would be reminded of other dance songs from the 1990s.[6] EDM.com simply headlined the video with a "can't unwatch" impact.[7]
