How a Black Man Feels is the fifth album by the rapper Schoolly D.[5] It was released in 1991 via Capitol Records, his first album for the label.[3] The album spawned three singles, "Original Gangster", “Where’d You Get That Funk From”, and “King of New York”.

Critical reception[]

Trouser Press wrote that "other than the unfashionable stripped-down beats (complete with Run-DMC samples), Schoolly’s ugly and all-too-common gangsta threats ... sound like a sorry-ass imitation jackin’ for bucks."[6]
