"Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho" (" Suppose You and I, Locked in a Room") is an Indian Hindi song from 1973 Indian film Bobby, directed by Raj Kapoor. The song features Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. The lyrics of the song was written by Anand Bakshi, and the music was composed by Lakshmikant-Pyarelal. Lata Mangeshkar and Shailendra Singh were the playback singers.[1][2]

The entire song was recorded in the room no. 305 of Hotel Highland Park, Gulmarg.[3][4]

The song is filmed on Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.[5] It depicts teenage romance between protagonists Raj Nath (Kapoor) and Bobby Braganza (Kapadia).[2] It revolves around two young lovers trapped in a room together.[5] The songs starts off with the lyrics: "baahar se koi andar na aa sake, andar se koi baahar na jaa sake, socho kabhi aisa ho to kya ho" ("what if no one from outside can come in, and what if no one from inside can go out, think what it would be like if that happened").[5]

According to Binaca Geetmala, a weekly countdown show, "Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho" was the second most popular song of the year 1973, after "Yaari Hai Imaan Mera Yaar Meri Zindagi" from the film Zanjeer.[5]

Trivia[]

The 2004 Hindi film Hum Tum got its title from this song.[6]
