Hunter Clowdus (born October 23, 1991) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as JJ Parker in The CW sports drama television series All American (2018–present).[1]

Early life[]

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on October 23, 1991, Clowdus grew up excelling in sports, including those in high school. He then graduated from the University of Alabama, and moved to Los Angeles, where he decided to pursue his acting career.

Career[]

Clowdus made his acting debut as a minor character in the 2012 film Trouble with the Curve, directed by Robert Lorenz. The following year, he played a batter for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 2013 autobiographical sports film 42, opposite Chadwick Boseman.[2]

He appeared in films such as The Internship, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 300: Rise of an Empire and La La Land. He has made guest appearances on television shows, including Teen Wolf, Tattoo Nightmares, , Mistresses and Rizzoli & Isles.

In 2018, he played the role of football player JJ Parker in the sports drama television series All American. For the show's first three seasons, he was a recurring cast member, and he was promoted to the main cast as of the fourth season.[3] In his interview on Glitter Magazine, he said: "My personal journey on the show is one that means more to me than any other role I’ve gotten. I auditioned for this pilot with a heavy heart as my nana passed away that morning. I auditioned at noon, and after the audition, I flew home. I actually got the news I booked the role the day of her funeral, so it was something that brought some joy to my family in a really difficult time. JJ means a lot to me. Again, I was in a very sentimental state when I booked the role, but I knew I could play certain character traits JJ had, not because I had them, but because he reminded me a lot of my dad back when he was in high school! The JJ you see on screen today is a solid mix of myself and my dad, which is something I think is really cool and special".[4]

In 2019, he played the role of Chris Walker in the sports-drama film Bennett's War.
