Composition and lyric[]

"If It Means a Lot to You" is the closing song of the studio album, Homesick released on February 3, 2009, it was written by vocalist Jeremy McKinnon and composed by A Day to Remember. “If It Means a Lot to You” is a song about leaving behind a special person, swearing you will be back soon and often but, as time goes on, coming home isn’t as simple as one thought it would be. The song narrates Jeremy’s experience while he’s away touring and cant return to his loved one.[1]

Promotion and release[]

The song was originally released on the same day the album was released but the song was re-released on September 29, 2014 for radio.[2] The song was included in the Rock Band video game in downloadable mode.[3] In 2019, the song surpassed the 100 million plays on Spotify, making the song the most listened to song by the band on that platform.[4] In 2018 a remix version in Portuguese made by Luckhaos was released, the song is called "Eu vou botar tu pra mamar" (I'll give you back to suck in English)[5] In 2018, artists Shinigami and Shy made an acoustic cover of the song.[6]
