Imphal railway station is an under construction railway station in Imphal (west district), Manipur. Its code is IMPAL. It will serve Imphal city. The station consists of two platforms.[1]

Current status[]

  • As of July 2020, Jiribam–Imphal line, 111 km long, to Imphal is likely to be completed by March 2022.[2]
  • As of February 2020, Chairman Railway Board inspected the progress of the under construction 110-km long Jiribam–Imphal railway line project. The crucial infrastructure project will provide railway connectivity to Imphal, the capital of Manipur. The rail line project is being developed at a cost of INR 12,524 crore and it is targeted for completion in March 2022. The rail line includes 47 tunnels totalling 62 km, 46 tunnels are completed and as many as 149 bridges. Highest bridge of 141 meters.[3]
  • As of August 2019, the 65% work is complete, Imphal station building is under construction.revised expected deadline is December 2022.[citation needed]
