International Baseball Centre

The International Baseball Centre (IBC) is the home field of the Ashbourne Baseball Club and the Irish National Baseball Team. It opened in 2015.[1] It is Ireland's only international standard baseball diamond.[citation needed]

The IBC is the host field for the International Baseball Festival, an annual international baseball tournament held in Ashbourne.[2] The crowning moment for the IBC was it being the host field for a tournament in the 2019 European Baseball Championship - Qualification held in Ireland in 2018.[3]

International Baseball Festival[]

The International Baseball Festival is an annual baseball tournament held at the International Baseball Centre in Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland. The first tournament was held in 2015. The Irish National Baseball Team has competed in every tournament since inception in preparation for International Play. Past competing teams have come from Belgium, Mexico, the Netherlands, Spain, Venezuela and the USA.

2015[]

The first International Baseball Festival was held August 19th - 23rd. In the tournament, the Irish National Baseball Team competed against teams from Belgium, Mexico, the USA and Venezuela. Mexico was tournament champion.

2016[]

The second International Baseball Festival was held July 7th - 10th. In the tournament, the Irish National Baseball Team competed against teams from the USA and Venezuela as well as an All Star team (the President's 9) from the Irish Baseball League. Team USA was tournament champion.

2017[]

The third International Baseball Festival was held July 4th - 9th. In the tournament, the Irish National Baseball Team competed against teams from the Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and the USA as well as an All Star team (the President's 9)from the Irish Baseball League. The President's 9 were tournament champion.

2018[]

The fourth International Baseball Festival was held July 12th - 15th. In the tournament, the Irish National Baseball Team competed against an AAU team from the USAA as well as an All Star team (the President's 9) from the Irish Baseball League. The Irish National Team were tournament champion.

2019[]

The fifth International Baseball Festival was held July 18th - 21st. In the tournament, the Irish National Baseball Team competed against the Ulster Red Sox as well as an All Star team (the President's 9) from the Irish Baseball League. The President's 9 were tournament champion.

2020[]

The sixth International Baseball Festival will be held July 16th-19th. The Irish National Baseball Team will host teams from the USA and Europe in preparation for their participation in the B pool for the European Baseball Championships later that month.

2019 European Baseball Championship Qualifications[]

The International Baseball Centre was the host field for a C-Pool qualification tournament for the 2019 European Baseball Championships.[4] Tournament dates were July 23rd - 29th, 2018. National teams competing included Greece, Slovenia, Finland and Norway. The Irish National Team won the gold medal and advanced to the next round of Olympic qualifying.[5]
