International cricket in 2022

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2022 international cricket season is scheduled to take place from May 2022 to September 2022.[1] Currently, 12 Tests, 43 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 17 Twenty20 International (T20I) matches are scheduled to be held in this season. Qualification for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup is scheduled to continue, with the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament.[2] Also in women's international cricket, a tournament is scheduled to take place as part of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, in Birmingham, England, in July and August 2022.[3] Additionally, a number of other T20I/WT20I matches are also scheduled to be played in series involving associate nations.

In September 2021, the fifth Test match between England and India was cancelled a few hours before the scheduled start, due to COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp.[4] The match was rescheduled to take place in July 2022, ahead of India's white-ball tour of England.[5]
