Iola Abraham Ikkidluak

Iola Abraham Ikkidluak (1936–2003) was an Inuit sculptor from Kimmirut, Nunavut.[1]

He participated in the Smithsonian Institution's 1979-1981 touring exhibition By the Light of the Qulliq.[1] His work is included in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Canada,[2] the McMichael Canadian Art Collection,[3] the Toronto-Dominion Bank Collection,[3] the Winnipeg Art Gallery,[3] the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec,[4] the National Museum of Finland,[5] and the University of Michigan Museum of Art.[6]

Ikkidluak's work frequently depicted Arctic animals, including polar bears,[7] walruses,[8] seals,[9] whales,[10] and birds.[11]

He worked in soapstone,[7] bone,[12] antlers,[13] and green serpentine.[11]

His disc number was E7-923.[10][12]

His wife Namonai (born 1944) was also an artist.[8][14] Their son Tutuyea was also a carver.[8]
