It Works for Me is the 25th and final solo studio album by American country singer Barbara Mandrell. It was released April 21, 1994, by Direct Records, along with Mandrell's 24th solo studio album Acoustic Attitude, in a box set sold through television infomercials. The album was produced by Mandrell with Brent Rowan. This became Mandrell's final album of new material to be released before she retired in 1997.

Background[]

Mandrell partnered with Direct Records in 1994 to release what would be her final two studio albums.[2] The New York based label was formed to market music through infomercials and the partnership with Mandrell was their first effort.[2] The 30-minute infomercial first aired April 21, 1994, on TNN, with airings on other cable channels following later.[2] The two albums, Acoustic Attitude and It Works for Me, were packaged in a box set with an Acoustic Attitude concert VHS tape and a fan pack consisting of a biography and an autographed photo.[2] Although the albums were not initially sold in stores, there were plans to release them to mass merchandisers 90 to 120 days after the infomercials began airing.[2] These plans never materialized, but It Works for Me was re-released by Razor & Tie Records in 1997.[3] Acoustic Attitude was released as a digital download in 2016 by online music retailer 7digital.[4]
