Jagdev Singh Waraich (born 20 November 1962) also known as JS Waraich, is a former National and International Athlete (Hammer Throw)[1] from India. Currently, he is working with ONGC[2] as General Manager[3] at Dehradun. Earlier, he held the position of Head Corporate Sports with ONGC at Delhi. He was also General Secretary of All India Public Sector Sports Promotion Board (AIPSSPB),[4][5][6] He has been awarded with the Eklavya Award by the Government of Gujarat in 1996 and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award by the Government of Punjab in 2006 for his achievements in sports.

Career[]

He took to sports again at Ahmedabad with the support from SAI Centre, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. From 1984 till 1997 in Gujarat, he rose his ranking from State Champion to an Asian Champion. During this period he contested various National and International championships successfully. He also set a new National Record in Hammer Throw event at Singapore in 1993, which was broken after the gap of 24 years.

At ONGC, he rose through the ranks of Junior Engineer to Assistant Engineer in 1986, then to Assistant Executive Engineer in 1990 and to Executive Engineer in 1992 (an out of turn promotion due to achievements in sports). He was further alleviated to Dy Superintendent Engineer in 1997 and then to Superintendent Engineer in 2001. He became Chief Engineer in 2008 & then was promoted to Dy Gen. Manager in 2012. Presently he is posted as General Manager in Dehardun Unit of ONGC. During his  tenures at various positions he got posted at different stations of ONGC (Ahmedabad, Assam, Delhi, Dehradun)

Jagdev Singh Waraich got married in the year 1988. He has one daughter and one son.
