Jahangir Forouhar (Persian: جهانگیر فروهر; May 24, 1916[1] – November 6, 1997) was an Iranian actor.

Biography[]

Forouhar was born in Esfahan, Iran in 1916. He started playing in theater at the age of eighteen and in cinema at the age of 50. He was father of Iranian entertainer Leila Forouhar. Jahangir Forouhar, son of Mustafa Khan Davam al-Saltanah, grandson of Mirza Mohammad Ali Khan Ghavam al-Dawlah and descendant of Mirza Abbas Khan Ghavam al-Dawlah,[2] was born in 1916 in the city of Isfahan.[3] He started his artistic activity in the field of theater at the age of eighteen. He also started acting in cinemas in 1945 with the film "Ganjineh Soleiman" by "Azizullah Rafiei". After the revolution, he was summoned to the courts of the Islamic Revolutionary Court.[4]In 1970, he received a commendation for the second role of a man for the film "House of Solitude" (Mehdi Sabbaghzadeh) from the 10th Fajr Film Festival.
