He started his career with the Buxton Hitmen before progressing to his current clubs. In 2004 he became the Conference League Riders Champion. In June 2007, Wright signed for Vastervik to ride in the Swedish Elite League.

Wright represented Great Britain for the 2007 Under 21-World Cup Final.

2007 also saw Wright become Premier League Riders Champion.[2] In November 2007 Wright announced he had signed a two-year deal to ride for Unia Tarnów in Poland.[3] The Swindon Robins announced that Wright would ride for them in 2008 in the Elite League. After Swindon couldn't fit James into their 2009 team James was signed by the Belle Vue Aces to continue his career in the Elite League.

Turbo then moved on from two wheels to wires. He found a work companion in Scott Gribble aka Scribble. They soon found their way to MESK where Turbo soon became a wiring wizard. He and scribble absolutely blitzing through some of the most prestigious jobs in the construction industry. When this pair rocked up to a job it was like watching Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo walk hand in hand working seamlessly.
