Jayeshbhai Jordaar is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language social comedy film written and directed by newbie Divyang Thakkar and produced by Aditya Chopra and Maneesh Sharma under Yash Raj Films.[2] The film stars Ranveer Singh as the titular Gujarati man who believes in equal rights between males and females in the society.[3][4] It also marks the Hindi debut of Tamil and Telugu actress Shalini Pandey who plays the female lead, with Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah and Deeksha Joshi in supporting roles.[5]

The film was officially announced in May 2019; after the pre-production ended, shooting commenced in Mumbai on 4 December 2019.[6][7] The second schedule took place in Gujarat from January 2020 and the film wrapped up on 7 February 2020.[8]

Jayeshbhai Jordaar was earlier announced to release in theatres on 2 October 2020 and later 27 August 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic in India led its postponement by makers who waited for the situation's normalisation rather than streaming it on OTT platforms.[9][10] It will now release theatrically on 25 February 2022.[1][11]

The film was announced on 27 May 2019, to be directed by newcomer Divyang Thakkar, produced by Yash Raj Films, and starring Ranveer Singh as the titular Gujarati man.[3] Singh's first look was released on 4 December 2019 to announce that filming had started in Mumbai.[6] Boman Irani and Ratna Pathak were cast as Singh's parents while South actress Shalini Pandey was paired opposite him.[7] The Gujarat shooting portion commenced in January 2020 and filming wrapped up on 7 February 2020.[8]

Release[]

It was initially scheduled to hit theatrical screens on 2 October 2020 coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, and then on 27 August 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic led its postponement both times and now the film will release theatrically on 25 February 2022.[1][9]
