Jean Monty

Jean Monty (born 1947), a Canadian executive, was the CEO of Nortel Networks from 1993 to 1997 and the chair and CEO of BCE from 1997 to 2002.[1][2] He commanded both Bell and Nortel at their peak and succeeded by Michael Sabia and John Roth respectively.

Career at Bell and Nortel[]

Monty began his career at Bell Canada in 1974 and rose through the corporate ranks and with the Bell controlled Nortel.[3]

Monty was born and raised in Montreal in 1947.[4] He graduated from the (BA), University of Western Ontario (MA Economics) and the University of Chicago (MBA).[5]

Monty has been on various corporate boards including Bombardier Inc.
