Jeffrey Philip LaBar (March 18, 1963 – July 14, 2021) was an American guitarist most famous for playing in the glam metal band Cinderella,[1] in which he replaced original guitarist Michael Schermick.[2]
During Cinderella's temporary break-up in the mid-1990s, LaBar supported himself by running a pizza shop with his brother and by doing assorted construction jobs.
Career[]
Cinderella[]
LaBar was also in a side band with Cinderella bandmate Eric Brittingham called Naked Beggars. In April 2007 LaBar and his wife parted ways with Naked Beggars.[3] They hosted an internet radio show "Late Night with the LaBar's" on Realityradio.biz.[4]
In 2012, LaBar and Cinderella completed their 30th anniversary tour with fellow rock veterans Poison, who were also celebrating 30 years in the business.[5]
Solo career[]
LaBar's debut solo record "One For The Road" was released August 2014.[6] Jeff toured in support of his solo record with his son Sebastian and Jasmine Cain.
Personal life and death[]
LaBar was born in Darby, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Upper Darby, just outside Philadelphia.[7] LaBar had part Japanese ancestry via his mother June.[8] He was inspired by his brother Jack LaBar to pick up the guitar.[9]
In an interview from 2016, LaBar admitted to having a substance abuse problem with alcohol for years, and blamed the substance abuse for Cinderella's inactivity.[10]
LaBar had a son named Sebastian from a previous marriage. Sebastian is the lead guitarist in a band called Mach22 and Tantric.[11]
LaBar died on July 14, 2021, at the age of 58, in Nashville, Tennessee.[12]
