Jijoy P R (Malayalam: ജിജോയ് P R) is an Indian film and theatre actor. He is an associate professor at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.[1] He is an international theatre artist who performed 380 shows in Japan, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States, Canada, and Australia. He had observed theatre as a tool for scientific temperament and incorporates it through acting workshops mostly in India and in Middle Eastern countries.

Early life and education[]

Jijoy.P.R did his schooling at Sree Narayana Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda where he developed his artistic interest through music and theatre. He had completed his pre-degree and Bachelor of Arts in economics from Christ College, Irinjalakuda where he was very active in campus theatre and performed a number of plays. He became 'Kalaprathiba' in different university competitions and secured seven times best actor in university level. He led the Calicut University theatre and mime team to South Zone and All India University competitions several times. This major interest in theatre led him to School of Drama and Fine Arts Thrissur where he pursued a Bachelor of Theater Arts specialised in acting. He got intense training, exposure and opportunities to work with national and international theatre and film personalities. He got invitations from Malayalam films. After doing some films and serials he decided to pursue his studies in M.A and M.Phil in drama and theatre arts from Pondicherry University. He secured first rank and gold medals in both M.A and M.Phil. Four years of life in Pondicherry enabled him to learn about Tamil culture through language, theatre, film and folklore.

Theatre[]

Played Oberon and Theaseus in the Shakespearean play A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by Mr. Tim Supple (U.K). From April 2006 to December 2009. This play gave 365 shows in 28 cities in six countries in four continents i.e. England, Italy, India, Australia, Canada, and the U.S. Under the auspices of the British Council, Dash Arts, UK Act Productions, UK for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
