Joe Trainer (born March 6, 1968) is an American football coach and former player. He was the defensive coordinator at Villanova University from 2014 to 2018. He served as head football coach at Millersville University of Pennsylvania from 2005 to 2007, and the University of Rhode Island from 2009 to 2013, compiling a career college football record of 25 wins and 64 losses.

Trainer is a native of Roslyn, Pennsylvania.
