Johann Gottlieb (February 15, 1815 – March 4, 1875) was an Austrian chemist who first synthesized Propionic acid. Gottlieb was born in Brno, Moravia in Austria (now Czech Republic). Since 1846 he was a professor at the University of Graz. He died of natural causes in Graz, Austria.
