John Duggan (radio presenter)

John Duggan (died 22 July 2019) was an Irish singer-songwriter from Killashee, County Longford.[1]

Career[]

Duggan was born in Killashee, Longford, although he relocated to Glenamaddy, County Galway at the height of the Irish showband era. He worked as an officer for Garda Síochána for a number of years, and began composing songs while working in the 1970s.[2][3]

Many of his songs have been recorded by artists including Foster and Allen, Daniel O'Donnell, T.R. Dallas, Seamus Moore, Gene Stuart amongst others.[citation needed]

In later years he lived in Claremorris, County Mayo where he was a host of MidWest Radio. He was also a writer of poetry which were published in a book titled Songs, Poems and Recitations.[4]
