John R. Williams (historian)

John Robert Williams (1897–1988) was an American historian of the Middle Ages. He received his doctorate from Harvard and then taught at Dartmouth College from 1927 until 1964. Among his works was Godfrey of Rheims, a Humanist of the Eleventh Century on Godfrey of Rheims. In 1931 he proposed Walter of Châtillon as the author of the Moralium dogma philosophorum.
