From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jorge Luiz Thais Martins is a Brazilian serial killer and former colonel of the Military Firefighters Corps who killed 9 drug addicts during a five-month period between August 2010 and January 2011 in the city of Curitiba, the state capital of Paraná.[1][2][3]

The case garnered public recognition on January 27, 2011 when the Paranaense Justice issued an arrest warrant for the former commander of the Firefighters Corps of Paraná State, Col. Jorge Luiz Thais Martins, for the attack of fourteen victims which resulted in the deaths of nine of them. The story received national coverage in the edition of Jornal Nacional and Rede Globo.[4]

The investigators pointed to the Colonel as being the main suspect,[5] as he wanted to avenge the death of his son,[6] Jorge Guilherme Marinho Martins,[7] who was murdered on the morning of October 22, 2009 during an attempted assault in the Boqueirão neighborhood.[8]
