José Antonio Álvarez Álvarez is vice chairman and CEO of Santander Group, the Spanish banking group centred on Banco Santander, the largest bank in the Eurozone by market value.

Álvarez has been CEO of Santander Group since January 2015 and an executive vice chairman since January 2019.[1]

He was appointed CEO "co-opted" in the council meeting of November 25, 2014, replacing . In June 2015, Banco Santander reduced its corporate structure and high dirección. In June 2015 Bank Account launched in Spain 1,2,3, who had previously reaped great success in United Kingdom.[2] In October 2015, the bank announced the charge at ATMs of other clients entidades. In December 2015, Álvarez complained of high taxes of the new banking and financial competence: Lending Club and Fintech. The Banco Santander has invested since 2014 in technology platforms as iZettle, specializing in payments via mobile; MiCheck for hospitality; Cyanogen, open system for mobile code; Ripple, Blockchain specializes in technology; and Kabbage, a system of direct credit to companies. In addition, the Santander Group has its own factory specializing in technological development banking software, Isban, which serves the group's banks.[3]
