Location

Joyee Setu or Joyee bridge is the longest river bridge of West Bengal which is connecting Haldibari and Mekhliganj town in Cooch Behar District of West Bengal. The bridge was launched on 1st February 2021.[1] The bridge is about 2.709 km (1.6832 Miles) long built on the Teesta river. Presently it is the longest river bridge of West Bengal. By the opening of this bridge, now the distance between Haldibari and Mekhliganj has reduced to 15 km, previously it was 70 km.

Connection[]

The bridge is connecting the Jalpaiguri town to Haldibari and Mekhliganj town.

Foundation & Construction[]

The bridge was constructed by SP Singla Constructions Pvt. Ltd.[2] In August 2015, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has laid the foundation of the bridge.[3] On 1st February 2021 the bridge was opened. The bridge was constructed and maintained by State Public Works Department.
