It also became the official entry of the Philippines for the Best Foreign Language Film category to the 2009 Academy Awards.[81] Though she is signed under ABS-CBN, the promotions for Ploning were done through GMA Network and GMA Films.[82] The movie was also shown in Palm Springs International Film Festival and 10th Newport Beach Film Festival in Palm Springs and Newport in California respectively.[83][84] It was also shown in 6th Paris Cinema International Film Festival,[85] Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival, 39th International Film Festival of India and Asian Festival of First Films in Singapore.[86] It also garnered a total of 23 awards from all over the world.[87]
