The Jumeirah Lakes Towers Free Zone (JLT Free Zone) is the free zone authority for the JLT Free Zone. It was established in 2002 as a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai with a mandate to provide the physical, market and financial infrastructure required to set up a commodities market place in Dubai. As of 30 May 2013 it had over 6,600 registered members including both commodities and other businesses.[1]

JLT Free Zone contains modern infrastructure, free-hold property, trade networking platforms as well as industry including secure vaults and purpose-built storage facilities. The Centre is used by a range of commodities sectors,[clarification needed] together with relevant support industries such as finance, logistics and insurance. Ahmed Bin Sulayem, is the Executive Chairman of JLT Free Zone.

JLT Free Zone Services[]

JLT Free Zone is one of the fastest growing free zones in the UAE.[2] It is seeing strong demand from companies and in the first six months of 2012 registered a record 975 companies; a rise of 60% over the same period in 2011.[3] DMCC has made significant changes to the process for registration and licensing including a simplified e-application process, availability of longer-term licenses and improved client relationship.

JLT Property Services[]

DMCC, the first free zone authority in the UAE to offer freehold business premises in addition to all other standard free zone services, developed three towers to cater for commodity-specific needs.

The Almas Tower is the tallest commercial tower in the Middle East and the second tallest tower in Dubai. As the centrepiece of JLT Free Zone, the 63-floor purpose-built tower caters to the commodities trade, from the diamond, gold and precious gems industry to steel, oil, copper and more.

Almas Tower is home to DMCC's headquarters and the DMCC Client Service Centre, where clients and potential members can conduct all of their licensing and registration requirements, including government and visa services.

In addition, Almas Tower houses the Dubai Diamond Exchange and Dubai Pearl Exchange, the Dubai gold and diamond vaults and the Almas Conference Centre which is managed by the 5-star Bonnington Hotel.
