Background and recording[]

"But aren’t we all, as human beings,
on foreign land? We’re not from here.
It takes an alien to tell an alien doesn’t it?
We have all had to travel.
Neanderthals had to move around,
birds go on epic migrations:
we’re always on the move,
we are always going somewhere.[1]

Talking to Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 music,[2] Clementine explained that "Seeing my visa just opened everything for me. Saying 'Jupiter' for me was like saying 'Europa,' or 'England,' or 'Edmonton'. Me wandering around in America."[3] In conversation with Milo Wasserman for Clash Magazine, Clementine stated that whilst he was in America, he stored this idea of being an alien, being in a foreign land.
